Governor Gavin Newsom officially signed Senate Bill (SB) 328 into law on Sunday, October 13, 2019. SB 328 requires the school day for middle schools and high schools to begin no earlier than 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., respectively, by July 1, 2022.

The bill was proposed and passed based on research that middle and high school students learn more when they get more sleep--and the later start time is a means to accomplish the goal of getting students more sleep.

In a small community like Delhi, this change will impact many families at all schools. The district has schedule a Town Hall Meeting on January 16, 2020 at 6pm at the Ed Park so that parents can discuss how this scheduling change will affect families, and thoughts on how to minimize any negative impact.
