Delhi Schools Closure

Dear DUSD Family,

Thank you for your dedication to our students and to each other. I have been inspired by your willingness to serve our children through these very difficult days. Delhi is a better place because of you.

We are all concerned about the spread of COVID-19 and the uncertainty it’s creating in our daily lives. Delhi Unified School District has met with the Merced County Department of Public Health and the Merced County Office of Education to monitor and identify the best options for our students and families. There are no confirmed cases in Merced County as of today, March 15, 2020.

In the interest of the health of our community, Delhi Unified School District has decided to join with all other Merced County districts and the Merced County Office of Education and close our schools beginning Thursday, March 19. We plan to reopen on April 20, but that decision will depend on the circumstances at the time. Staff will be provided direction about their work schedule as plans are developed.

Public health officials encourage social distancing to control the spread of the virus. It is strongly recommended that students stay at their home during school closures as much as possible and do not gather in public places.

We are working to create frequently asked questions documents for staff and families about these closures. We understand that school closures have significant impacts on our students and families. We thank you for your understanding during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Adolfo Melara

Proud to Be the Superintendent of the Delhi Unified School District
