On-Campus Learning Protocols:

We are currently on-campus and in person. We have developed contingency plans to employ if the situation changes. Throughout the rest of this year, we are monitoring the health and safety of the DUSD community making adjustments as information continues to develop.

Below are some of the COVID-Specific Health and Safety Procedures that are in place to help us welcome your children back into the classroom safely.

COVID Illness and Contact Tracing:

Symptom or Quarantine Instructions

  • “Day Zero” is the day the individual began having symptoms OR the date the individual tested positive for COVID if they did not develop symptoms.

  • Individuals can return after a 10 Day Quarantine from “Day Zero” as long as they are fever free for 24 hours (without the aid of medication) and symptoms have improved.  Meaning they return on the 11th day. Example: Day 0 is 2/13, return on 2/24.

  • Students have the OPTION to return on Day 6 if they can show proof of a negative COVID test on Day 5.

Remember: It is optional for the student to return sooner, they do not have to retest if parents prefer a 10-day quarantine.

  • Students are not required to quarantine if they were exposed to an individual that tested positive.

It is recommended, NOT REQUIRED, that the student test on days 3-5 after the last day of exposure.

    Hand Washing and Facility Cleaning

  • Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wash their hands throughout the day, including upon arrival, before and after eating, after being outdoors, and before leaving school. The school has also invested in an on-campus full-day cleaning technician to make sure our communal spaces are cleaned and sanitized throughout the day. Teachers will follow cleaning protocols in the classroom throughout the day.

Online Security with Social Networks

Technology has evolved tremendously in a short period of time. The internet and online world have changed how we interact with each other, how we talk to each other, and how we receive and put out information. Risks also come with the sensation of online connectivity. According to the FBI’s Counterintelligence division, cyber-security and awareness are necessary as online hackers, bullies, and criminals attempt to exploit Social Media. Social hackers exploit connections through social networks by manipulating people through social interactions to get what they want. Their tactics are often disguised as harmless and legitimate actions.

It is important for both adults and kids to understand the risks involved when participating in social networking and media. Some popular social networking sites include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and YouTube. Many users do not understand the impact a posting can have on their privacy and the privacy of others in their network.

A diamond is forever…and so are your social network postings. Once information is posted to a social networking site, it is no longer private. The more information you post, the more vulnerable you may become. Check out the Settings for your Social Media Apps.
